(Collaborative) Illustration 3

Today I thought I'd give a show on creating the show room houses, I started recreating a house to go on the side. But then I realised, that because it was isometric, I could simply just flip them so I didn't get much done today because of that.

I did however make a start on creating the fence that surrounded the show rooms.

(Collaborative) Illustration 2

Just before the crit I realised my house was rather rough so decided to redo it but this time work at a bigger scale and then size the house down so It was easier to connect the paths up.

With added decoration the house started to come more and more to life, the little touches really made this. The mowed lawn etc. All present at Steeton!

Mini-Steeton needed more variation so I used the photos I had taken to recreate another house, It was quite difficult to do because of the other half of it having the lift in the roof. It was complicated to do due to figuring out the angle and perspective.

Shrubs finished them of all rather nicely.

The progress I made today I quickly put together to create a board for the crit later.

(Collaborative) Illustration 1

Using the leaflets we picked up from steeton I tried to recreate the T junction that we visited where the show rooms where. Which is on the bottom left of the map below.

I tried to draw out isometrically how I visualised this would be layed out. However the only problem with this was what would be on the other side of the road and what would be behind the other houses.

Using the designs of the houses, which were identical to the ones that are at Steeton, I drew up a simple isometric house using simple shapes.

I keep the outline on the houses because without it I think the houses would be very undefined and wouldn't stand out as much when I had added all the other elements.

I really like how well this came together when I added a few more houses. It was quite motivational to see how quickly that came together and pushed me to get more done on it.

OUGD505 Crit, Research book.

Postive: People loved the idea of the flipbook, liked the yellow centre text. As well as how he columns fit to the page and the imagery. Good use of colour.

Improvement: make the page number centre, erase all the widows. (something I will certainly do.) Make sure it's all high-res. ( I know some images are low, because the cartoons are as well. Which doesn't help.)

The suggestions covered most concerns I have currently, such as how to print it, bind it and just alterations to certain parts of the book. Although this crit wasn't all that helpful, early in the proccess, it did reassure me things I tried in the book were successful such as the flip book part of it. I'm glad that's what came out of it positively.

Jackson Rising Day Task

Today we were tasked with creating promotional stuff for Jackson Rising, A fictional? event at moma. It was a good excerise to get me back into creating something that's branded and how to explore how far you can take a logo and play with it on a a4 page as well as how to set hierarchy. It was a learn by doing type of day and they're the type I like best. Stick in your mind the most.
