Research Book Final Images

Photographed in the kitchen table in the bright sun as a DIY method, I think these pictures couldn't have turned out any better. I'm really happy with how crisp an how full the colours came out. A big improvement over my previous photographs, studio brief 3 came out really well too. 

This was down to the sun more then anything, I photographed Studio brief 2 at night so there wasn't any natural light so they were all a bit fussy and really, not that high of quality. At least I know for next time where I went wrong.

Golden Age Final Photos

I could have done better with these photographs, but I worked with what I had. It was particularly frustrating because a lot of it was 3-d work. Trying to capture all of that and show the concept of each piece is what I struggled with. It's something I'm gonna have to research into for next time, however I would like to re-photograph my pieces because I am really happy with how they came out, it's just a shame they didn't come out the best they really should have.

Magazine Posters

I think the main thing that really helped with the outcome of this photograph is the glossy paper, by gosh that fit in well with the magazine. I've never printed on that paper before, I prefer matte for most things. However seen as though I wanted it for a magazine, it needed to be glossy to fit in with the rest of the mag's feel and glossy sheen. I'm really happy with the magazine advert and how the photograph came out as well, it works it well and looks pretty authentic because of the different stock.

Golden Age Development

The website is another thing I'm really pleased with from this brief, as much as I'm interested in websites, I don't want to create plain ones, I think this shows something different people wouldn't really have seen before I would hope. It's got all the aesthetic of something class but Its weighted by the fun and charm that is within the golden age cartoons. It'd be child appropriate but it's gonna be used by adults, it'd be the place where I'd want them to see what they could relive, the cartoons in big picture. 

On top of the basic frame I wanted to include the curtains that were part of my other concepts but I didn't get around to using. I used my previous drawings to start on it, but It seemed the final solution was simply the side curtains, they were much more effective. They created the idea of what it was but didn't obviously show the full thing.

The curtains needed decoration to make them a bit more lively. The lines that finished at a point appeared to make it more darker then it really was, it's a soft illusion. Happy surprise.

I thought the use of the gloved hand would have been a playful use of pointing arrows, but I then realised. The hand cursor is exactly that. So It seemed really redundant to use it at that point. I did keep it for the littler things, but for the bigger ones, I scrapped. I did like the idea though, It seemed to work well.

I recreated the event's listing page as another page, I loved how the half tone came out on the screen in white. It worked exceptionally well. I prefer my home page because It's more playful.

Golden Age Event Listing & Ticket Construction

I can't say just how terrifying making this was, I had only two prints, two of each side, that how come out well. I really should have made more, but I was pretty confident it would have been enough considering how well my mock-ups turned out.

It turned out on my first attempt, the front was 1cm too small so it wouldn't close (and the head on the front was backwards). I'd used a different ruler so my measurement's were off. Spent over an hour on the second making sure everything was perfect after that. I really wanted it to work, and to be able to photograph it working. 

Then I realised, I made one tab too small to stick. I used double sided to keep it down. But nevermind, It held.

Mostly, I was happy with these. I think they really show my crafting skills the best and is a working demonstration of it! I couldn't believe how authentic they turned out, I'm glad the scale I made them at, the hole punch's hole was about to scale with them. So it at came together nicely. 

Golden Age Development (May 19th)

Everyone has a favourite character, like the other elements before which contain separate elements or slices of the characters I wanted the tickets to show yet another. After attending the event you'd hopefully get a few pieces of different characters, ones that aren't all the same. Together showing the breadth of the Golden age era. The ticket's design was made to evoke the traditional and nostalgic side to the cinema using the old style ticket, similar to those found in arcades. 

Many character's didn't fit due to their proportions, had to pick a design that was recognisable and concise.

Originally I'd had just had the below design for a placeholder for he wristband design. - This was changed to fit in better with the concept of giving a piece of each character.

I thought about using quotes from characters, but to reach a bigger audience silhouettes were more recognisable to children and adults.

Simple two day event listing, giving a sample image to accompany to illustrate the cartoon for people whom may faintly recognise, tip of their tongue, or they would like to find out more.

Started the website off while screen printing, Like the concept of using the curtains from the previous unused illustration.
